Founder Charles Moncrieff III created Vegas Wine News to keep readers informed about food and wine related events transpiring in the Las Vegas area, and to provide general wine information about premier wines around the world. Additionally, the site will focus on the local culinary scene, with emphasis on both new and venerable restaurants in the Las Vegas area, and some ideas about novel culinary creations that will hopefully enhance readers’ creativity in the kitchen.
Charles moved to the Las Vegas area in 2006 after retiring from the practice of law in Orange County, California. After graduating from UCLA undergrad and law school, he practiced as a sole practitioner, mostly in the field of civil litigation, for his entire entire career, which spanned more than two decades. He became an avid wine collector in the early 2000s, and became a self taught aficionado of wine, taking the time to visit most of the premier wine venues of the world, including the Napa and Sonoma Valleys, Paso Robles, Eastern Washington, the Willamette Valley of Oregon, the Bordeaux, Rhone Valley, Burgundy and Champagne regions of France, the Tuscany, Piedmont and Veneto regions of Italy, as well as some of the premier wine regions of Chile and Argentina.
Each quarter the site will publish an online site featuring reviews of local restaurants from a wine perspective, exploring internationally recognized wine regions, a featured winery, a review of some of the most compelling wines consumed within the previous three months, a recipe idea of the month, suggestions about upcoming local wine and food events, and a featured person.
The site invites inquiries from anyone curious about wines or the content of the site.
